The Day of Fading

The fair ones gathered in fine array
Their joy spread forth into the glade
And none could know that on this day of gladness
That they would witness Faerie fade

A Knighting it was that called them hence
And the love of two most smitten
But there came as well an unexpected guest
The beloved child named Kitten

What auspicious gift had Fate granted
This precious lad had found his kin
But Lo fickle fate bore the bitterest fruit
A spirit sought its due for sin

They wept and they moaned and wrung their hands
Shayndel did cry her cry her tears so pale
And still the darkling magic spread forth its net
It caught the childlings once so hale

This new day of birth became his last
The Dream stolen ere it could sail
The day of joy became a day for battle!
No more would fade to Death's cold wail

The Sisters gowned each in white and black
They moved like dancers through the crowd
Shayndel and Liadan, both Gentle and wise
Rallied the spirits bright and proud

The children would quail no more in fear
They formed a plan and then stood tall!
Sammy and Jimmy, both children brave and strong
Sammy freed the spirit from its ball

A Nunnehi filled with hate and spite
Free from his prison, smooth and round
His freedom bartered for the cost of a trip
Brave folk passed through a foreign mound

The Savage Doyle, he did lead the way
The childlings bravely at his side
And Leahdine too! In her dress of midnight
Their hearts were sure as was their stride

Those heroes went, and others remained
To stand and bar the Banshee???s way
Shayndel, and Billy, prepared to fight and die
No more children would die this day

Both groups stood against the darkling ghost
On the planes of spirit and earth
And the children were the ones who saved the day
They reclaimed the right of their birth

And so despite the unwelcome grief
There was cause for celebrating
For the Fair Folk, they rose! And did not give ground
They survived the Day of Fading
