Smoking Rocks, one
of the smaller baronies in the County of Independance, currently serves as the
Ducal seat for the Duchy of Freedom. Once under the holdings of Baroness Syna
ni Eiluned, the barony was turned over to her granddaughter Shayndel upon her
death. With Shayndel's rise to Crown Princess, the Barony was granted to Baron
Charles Danforth ap Liam and the main household was renovated for a hall and school
for a northern branch of the Allegra Concordia - the united bards of Concordia.
Sitting on the edge of the barony and the coast of Massachusetts on Cape Ann (which Smoking Rocks shares with it's northern neighbor the Barony of Bright Tides), Shayndel's home is a constant center of activity and a stopping point for many of the fae who need a place to stay in the area. The doors to Smoking Rocks are rarely if ever closed.

The Baronial Heraldry: A shield argent, two quills
sanguine, per pale sanguine three mullets argent.
In heraldry sanguine
(and red) represent military readiness and silver peace and sincerity, together
the two indicate a capability to battle - when neccessary. Mullets also represent
martial capability while quills are symbols of learning and knowledge. For one
of Boston's coastal regions military readiness was always a concern, yet Smoking
Rocks also surrounds several universities.
